Transit City Condos presented by Centre Court Development and SmartREIT will be the tallest landmark on Vaughan’s emerging skyline, located north of Highway 7 between Jane and Highway 400. It will be the first residential building in SmartREIT’s 100-acre Vaughan Metropolitan Centre development called SmartCentres Place.
The 55-storey tower with 553 units designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects in the heart of the new Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. Transit City site is next to the coming Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension station—and adjoining bus terminal—that has catalyzed the massive, 442-acre VMC redevelopment, anchoring the city's new urban core.
Targeting a 2020 completion date, Transit City is intended as an early centerpiece of the new Downtown. The building will join the completed KPMG hub and the upcoming 100,000 sq ft YMCA/Library/PWC building.
Transit City also located near the foot of the VMC's marquee nine-acre park by Montreal's Claude Cormier + Associés, the tower will be home to the first BUCA-branded restaurant outside Toronto's Downtown core. There will be a 1,500 sq. ft. Bar Buca providing refreshments morning through evening in the condo lobby and an adjacent 4,500 sq. ft. restaurant with Buca’s signature artisanal Italian menu. Integrated into the glassy lobby, the bar space is designed to bring vitality to the communal area, while inviting pedestrian engagement.
