481 University

The United BLDG presented by Davpart Inc. at 481 University Avenue in Downtown Toronto. The North East corner of University and Dundas. The building is designed by B+H Architects, features with 55-storey includes 763 units.

The four existing buildings on the block wall be partially retained to act as the podium, restoring heritage aspects. The new tower consists of a 9-storey base building containing office spaces and street-fronting retail—including a retail arcade along the Dundas Street West, a 6-storey upper podium element housing a mix of residential units and amenity spaces, and the upper 40-storey tower that contains the residential units. The Dundas arcade would be created by removing the most southerly bay of floor space on the ground and second levels, and widening the sidewalk into the area behind the remaining piers.

The new plan for the exterior incorporates proportion and materiality reminiscent of the International Style of modernist buildings from the mid 1900s. The upper podium and tower volumes feature a mix of window wall and curtain wall cladding systems, with a grid of bronze coloured metal framing that accents the expanses of glazing. Balcony guard rails will feature steel pickets with a bronze finish to match the tower accents.

The United BLDG closes to 5 major hospitals, University of Toronto, Ryerson University and City Hall; only minutes walk to Eaton Square, China Town, Kensington Market, Bay Street Corridor and Queen’s Park. It is right in the heart of downtown financial and entertainment district. Head over to The Art Gallery of Ontario or Dundas Square for music and cultural festivals all-year-round.

Savour all that this great city offers with convenient subway access to the St. Patrick subway station directly from within the tower.
